Resource Concerns
Milestones
Completed Technical Inventories
Identified Resource ProjectsDuring the fall of 1997 and spring of 1998 a subcommittee of the Technical Advisory Committee completed a stream corridor assessment for Aux Sable Creek. Forty-four points representing resource issues were identified and documented on a geographic information system. All forty-four points are described by resource concern and addressed by an alternative conservation practice. As a result approximately sixty-four miles of buffer/filter strips could be established on agriculture fields, in order to reduce stream sedimentation and improve water quality. The planning process resulted in twenty-four objectives established to address the identified resource problems. Further refinement and implementation of these objectives will result in additional projects. |
