SUBJECT:  National Engineering Handbook Part 645, Engineering Technical Materials

Purpose:  To update Illinois Supplements to the Engineering Field Handbook, Chapter 6

Expiration Date:  Upon receipt.

Explanation: This notice is to announce the availability of additional digitized and updated Illinois supplements to the Engineering Field Handbook (EFH).

Illinois supplements to the EFH are now complete in digital form for the following chapters:

  • Chapter 1 – Engineering Surveys (distributed 10/24/07 with EFH Notice 29)
  • Chapter 2 – Estimating Runoff and Peak Discharges (distributed 10/24/07 with EFH Notice 29)
  • Chapter 3 – Hydraulics (distributed 12/20/07 with EFH Notice 30)
  • Chapter 6 – Structures (distributed with this Notice)

Some of the tabular data in the Chapter 6 supplements have been enlarged for legibility, utilizing multiple pages where needed; however, content has not been changed. The following list outlines the updated and new Illinois supplements released with this notice. The table of contents for Illinois EFH supplements will be updated when all chapters are complete.

The Illinois NRCS engineering website will be updated to include the new digital versions of the Illinois supplements at http://www.il.nrcs.usda.gov/technical/engineer/EFH-SupNotes/EFH-suplmnts.html.
 

Filing Instructions:

All holders of Engineering Field Handbook binders should:

  1. Remove Illinois supplements 6-107(1) and 6-107(2).
  2. Print out the attached updated three supplements on green paper and file in the EFH. Illinois supplements are numbered to correspond to the page number of the national EFH, and are filed directly after the national page with the same base number.
