Former IL State Conservationist Recognized
Champaign, IL—Pictured is former State Conservationist for the
Illinois’ Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) Bill Gradle and wife
Sally. Last month, the Association of Illinois Soil and Water Conservation
Districts named Gradle its 2012 “Friend of Conservation” award at the
organization’s Annual Meeting in Springfield.
While announcing the award, Association Vice-President and Legislative Chair,
Lonnie Wilson praised Mr. Gradle’s dedication as a conservationist throughout
his entire 34-year long NRCS career—15 of which he served as the NRCS state
leader here in Illinois.
“His unwavering support for the soil and water conservation districts has been a
hallmark of his term as Illinois’ State Conservationist and we are appreciative
of the contribution agreements, paid computer seats, office space and the many
other supportive actions he has taken over the years.
For these reasons and others too numerous to mention, the selection committee
unanimously chose Bill as the 2012 Friend of Conservation”, said Mr. Wilson.
