EQIP Forest Management Plans Fact Sheet

As woodland property owners seek assistance to develop forest management plans, this incentive payment offers financial support to help find solutions.

Forestland is an integral part of the landscape. When properly managed, woodlands can provide many environmental benefits such as erosion control and the creation of quality wildlife habitat. Well managed forestland can add value to timber resources and to adjacent cropland, grazing land or other land. Landowners with woodland and forested areas can improve their forest resources by developing a forest management plan. Currently Illinois’ Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP) is offering a Special Projects opportunity that can help landowners learn how to manage forestland and obtain helpful solutions.

With the EQIP Forest Management Plan Incentive, applicants can receive a one-time payment of $400 to help cover the costs of developing an approved forest management plan. With professionally managed forested acres, landowners can continue to manage their forest resources wisely.

With more acres of Illinois’ forest resources well planned and managed, the health and value of forest resources in Illinois will be greatly improved.

  • be at least 100 feet wide
