Detailed Soil Surveys of Illinois

The detailed soil surveys of Illinois have been in digital format and available for download from the Soil Data Mart for several years.

Illinois NRCS Soils staff have assembled the data into a statewide extent and have developed maps of some the most requested interpretations, such as Hydric Soils, Prime Farmland and Soil Orders. These maps are for your review and comment. The data is not available as a seamless dataset.

A Decade of Changes in the Illinois River Watershed cover

2009 Bi-Annual Governor's Conference Document of Changes

The year 2009 marks the twelfth biennial Governor’s Conference on the Management of the Illinois River System. From the beginning in 1987, conference planners took a systems approach. The focus encompassed activities and issues on, in and around the river. This document is being issued in conjunction with this conference.

A Decade of Changes in the Illinois River Watershed was produced in a joint effort between the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA) and the United States Department of Agriculture Natural Resources Conservation Service (USDA NRCS). Contributing agencies and organizations are listed in the appendix. While these groups submitted considerable documentation, this piece highlights only a portion.

CONSERVATION
Our Purpose. Our Passion.

The purpose and passion for conservation is shared among many. It is shared between NRCS employees and partners who help people help the land. And it is shared by the landowners with whom we work. Our passion is manifested through the benefits derived from stewardship of private lands—benefits we all enjoy, such as cleaner water and air, improved soils and abundant wildlife habitat.

Learn about our stories, the stories of conservation made possible through a shared purpose, a shared passion and a shared commitment to conservation.

NRCS Strategic Plan

The Strategic Plan sets the direction for NRCS and describes our conservation priorities and goals. Bold, forward-looking, and far-reaching, this plan challenges us to reformulate some past approaches and develop and adopt new approaches. This plan will guide NRCS in implementing key overarching strategies, managing agency business lines, meeting customer needs, and developing and strengthening capacity to achieve our mission goals.
