Soil – a living and life-giving substance, without which we would
perish.
As world population and food production demands rise, keeping our soil
healthy and productive is of paramount importance. So much so that we
believe improving the health of our Nation’s soil is one of the most
important endeavors of our time. Check out the several terrific soil
health videos that have been posted on The USDA NRCS
YouTube channel as
well as on Vimeo
and the
Ray the Soil Guy channels.
YouTube and Vimeo allow you to “like” or “favorite” as well as recommend
videos through a playlist. |

The USDA has extended the filing deadline for the
voluntary claims process for Hispanic and women farmers and ranchers who
allege discrimination by the USDA in past decades.
All claims must now be filed by
MAY 1, 2013 (original deadline was
March 25). If
you think you might be eligible to file a claim, please access the
Farmer and Rancher Call Center or Website:
1-888-508-4429 or
www.farmerclaims.gov . If you, or someone you know, believe the United States
Department of Agriculture (USDA) has improperly denied you farm loan
benefits between 1981 and 2000 because you are Hispanic or female, you
may be eligible to apply for compensation.
For guidance, you may contact an attorney or other legal service
provider in your community. If you are currently represented by an
attorney regarding allegations of discrimination or in a lawsuit
claiming discrimination, you should contact your attorney regarding this
claims process. USDA cannot provide legal advice.
